Who Is Muhammad?

Allah describes the Prophet in the Holy Qur'an and says,

"Muhammad..the Messenger of Allah, and the Seal of the Prophets: and Allah has full knowledge of all things." -Holy Qur'an [Chapter 33:40]

"...I swear by the pen and what the angels write,

By the grace of your Lord you [Prophet Muhammad] are not mad.

And you [Prophet Muhammad] (stand) on an exalted standard of character."
Holy Qur'an [Chapter 68:2-4]

Muhammad son of Abdullah son of Abdul-Muttalib son of Hashim son Abd Manaf son of Qusai son of Kilab son Murra of Ke’b son Loi of Ghalib son son of Fahr son Malik son of An- Nadr son of Kinana son of Kbuzaiuan son Mudrikah son of Elias son of Mudar son of Nizar of Ma’ad  son Adnan Lineage is traced back to Prophet Ismail son of Abraham (Ibrahim) The Patriarch.

Muhammad the Last Prophet and Messenger of Allah, Statesman, Leader, Husband, Father, Counselor, Warrior, Conqueror, Ruler, Teacher, Shepherd, Companion, devotee of Humanity etc… was born in the year of 570 C.E. in Mekka of Arabia. His father Abdullah, son of Abdul-Muttalib form the noble tribe of Quraish died before his birth. As a baby, he was given to a wet nurse and for a few years lived outside of Mekka. His mother Aminah died when he was six years of age and his grandfather Abdul-Muttalib who was responsible for his upbringing died when  eight years of age. Muhammad (SAW) then came under the care and tutelage of his uncle Abu Talib, who was a wise merchant. With this trade as a merchant and known as the trustworthy, a wealthy lady by the name of Khadijah entrusted her merchandise to Muhammad on a trading expedition. The journey was a success and Khadijah was very impressed. Soon afterwards, at the age 25 and Khadijah 40, they married and Allah gave them two boys who died at an early age and four daughters.

Muhammad was very unhappy with the corrupt life style of the people who lived in Mekka, and he would often spend nights in prayer and meditation in a cave near Mekka (Mount Hira).

One night at age forty while in the cave Muhammad received his first revelation form Allah. Angel Jabril (Gabriel) conveyed Allah’s message to him and said,

Read! In the name of your Lord who created (all that exists). He has created man form a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous. Who has taught (the writing) by the pen. He has taught man that which he knew not. (96:15) On another occasion, Angel Jabril (Gabriel) visited him and said to him that Allah said: “O you (Muhammad), enveloped in garments! Rise and warn! And magnify your Lord (Allah)!” (74:1-3).

Muhammad began to preach and invite the people to the worship of One God, Allah. Soon afterwards, the polytheist posed great opposition to him and plotted to kill him. He fled to Medina. A few years later before this incident, a party of 75 men and 2 women met with the Prophet Muhammad outside of Mekka accepted Al-Islam an oath to obey and defend him as they would their own relatives. This is known as the famous pledge of Al- Aqabah.

Prophet Muhammad organized the people of Medina around the worship of one God, Allah, and established the Islamic state which changed the course of history.

Muhammad always addressed himself as a servant and Messenger of Allah, and never called people to himself. He called Humanity to submit to Allah in His Absolute Oneness, to yield to Him obediently and to free and disassociate oneself from ascribing partners with Allah (To say Allah has a son, daughter, uncle, aunt, helper, or is three in one or more than One).
